My Little Pony Fun Run & Carnival

Location : Horizon Hills, Johor Bahru

The My Little Pony Fun Run & Carnival was designed as a day filled with excitement, family bonding, and environmental awareness, bringing together around 2,000 participants. Held at Horizon Hills in Johor Bahru, the event offered a lively blend of activities, including a family fun run, carnival games, food trucks and booths, stage performances, mascot displays, and a photo booth creating a magical experience for children and parents alike.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

Waste Management

Dedicated waste stations were set up around the venue, with clear signage and staff on hand to assist participants in sorting waste. This approach minimized landfill contributions and encouraged recycling throughout the event.

Sustainable Materials for Structures

Event structures and decorations were crafted from recyclable or reusable materials, reinforcing the commitment to reduce waste generated from single-use items.

Eco-Friendly Transport

To reduce vehicle emissions, a shuttle bus service was provided, and walking was promoted among participants. This initiative contributed to reducing the event’s carbon footprint and minimized traffic congestion around the venue.

Reduction of Single-Use Plastics

Food trucks and booths were encouraged to eliminate single-use plastics in their operations, using compostable or reusable alternatives for serving food and beverages. This helped to reduce plastic waste significantly and set a standard for eco-friendly food service.

Scheduled Use of Diesel Generator Sets

The generator sets were used only as needed, with a careful schedule designed to conserve fuel and reduce emissions. This strategy allowed for energy efficiency without compromising the event’s needs.

Merdeka Strategic Development Centre Team Building

Location : KGB Camp, Kg Kemensah

Lima  Deria  organized  a  team-building  event  for Merdeka Strategic Development Centre Sdn. Bhd. from 23rd to 25th August 2024,  bringing  together 89  participants and 16 facilitators. Sustainability was at the core of the event, with a strong  focus  on  waste  management,  energy  efficiency, responsible  sourcing,  sustainable  transportation,  and  risk assessment.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

Plastic-Free Policy

Participants were briefed about the no plastic bottle policy and encouraged to bring their own tumblers.

Reusable Dining Ware

All meals served with reusable plates and cutlery, eliminating single-use plastics.

Sustainable Food & Responsible Sourcing

Food Allergy Screening

Interviews were conducted with participants before the event to identify any food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Locally Sourced Ingredients

All food ingredients were procured from suppliers within the vicinity area, reducing the event’s carbon footprint and supporting local businesses.

Food Waste Composting

85 kg of food waste was composted using Black Soldier Fly larvae, which were later distributed to local farmers as feed for chickens and fish.

Temperature Control

Air conditioning was set to 24°C to optimize energy efficiency.

Awareness Campaigns

Posters were placed in dormitories reminding participants to turn off lights and unplug devices when leaving.

Participants were educated on energy and water-saving initiatives through a dedicated briefing session.

Carpooling

Attendees were picked up from Zoo Negara and transported to KGB Camp in shared vehicles.

Community Engagement

Local transport services were hired from nearby communities, supporting the local economy while reducing emissions.

Risk Assessment & Safety Measures

To ensure a safe and well-managed event, a Risk Assessment Plan was drafted before the event. This plan identified potential risks and included mitigation strategies to ensure participant safety.

Risk Identification & Controls

Existing controls were reviewed to minimize potential hazards.

Pre-Event Briefing

Safety protocols and emergency response plans were communicated to all facilitators and participants.

Health & Dietary Safety

Interviews were conducted in advance to address food allergies and dietary restrictions.
